The Boxter S made its global debut during the November L.A. Auto Show. A recent test drive in the Willow Springs Race Track convinced car experts that the Boxter S is at its best when it comes to its purpose—be lightning fast on the road.

It flies. Not. But it is really quick powered by its 3.4L 9A1 engine that outputs 310 horsepower with a torque of 265 lb-ft. The automatic seven speed transmission paired with the engine brings the brute force to reality as you will notice how things along the track go a bit blurry.

The Boxter S is a beast that can be tamed on the race way. This is attributed to the excellent strut suspension from Porsche MacPherson and the Stability Management 8.0 that controls the wheel spin.

This 2009 hot wheel can be lined with the super cars in the market as it proved its worth when it lapped the Nurburgring in 8 minutes 10 seconds. Only the speed demons go for less than 8 minutes in the Nurburgring.

The 2009 Boxter S simply out classes the 1997 predecessor like a sports car racing a soap box derby cart. The set up of the old age Boxter is simply outdated with shocks being to stiff and the steering meant prayers. The power also showed what a decade meant when it comes to car technology.

The Boxter S performs as it is designed to perform. It definitely can translate the engine power to fast sprints and well controlled handling of curves.

The 2009 Boxter S is expected to hit the US market by March 2009 a few weeks after the European kick off.
