Good news to all Porsche fans out there. According to recent reports, the luxury car brand is expecting to debut the long-wheelbase model of its famous sedan, the Panamera this 2012. Moreover, a heavily redesigned version of the four-door model will roll out in 2013.

We have received word from the automobile magazine, Auto Bild, which is based in Germany, that the Panamera’s little brother, the Pajun, will debut sometime in 2015 or 2016. That’s definitely something that will keep Porsche patrons excited in the years to come.

The automotive community has been buzzing about the Porsche Panamera LWB for a long time now. While nothing yet has been confirmed, speculations pile up when a source from Britain’s Car magazine, who was based in Stuttgart, Germany, confirmed that there really is a Porsche Panamera LWB in the works. However, the luxury brand is said to be planning to debut the longer version of the sedan early in 2012 which is expected to be a hit with Chinese consumers rivaling popular series like the Audi A8 and the BMW 7-Series.

Still, according to recent reports from automobile publications, the 2012 Porsche Panamera will have more legroom in the rear seat. Another Panamera version is said to be in the works. This time it’s a coupe version that was said to be a great successor of the famed Porsche 928 model.

So far, we are still waiting for the official specs of what will power the 2012 Porsche Panamera.

The blog of car designer Jon Sibal features a story about the new racecar Panamera S made by Porsche Racing and N. Tehcnology which they have been constructing since Februrary.

The Porsche racecar makes use of a space frame made from aluminum to keep the weight down to about 1,320 kilograms which is 550 kg lighter than the stock version of the Panamera. The car will be fitted with a V8 4.8L powerplant that gives out 450 horsepower which is 50hp better than what the Panamera S can do but 50 hp lower than its Turbo variant.

The powerful engine is paired up with a six speed gearbox. The aerodynamic setup includes installation of the rear wing, widened fenders for front and back, and front splitter. The suspensions makes use of double wishbone for the front with adjustable dampers and 4-rod multilink with adjustable dampers for the rear.

The car is being designed by the engineers to meet the regulations for the Superstar Racing Series that is based in Italy. The racecar had its first taste of the track last May as it prepares for its first race this coming June 13 in Hockenheim, Germany.

Fabriozo Giovanardi will be the designated driver for the N. Technology. Giovanardi has 8 titles under his belt for conquering different touring championships including the back to back win at the British Touring Car Championship in 2007 and in 2008; and also the European Touring Car Championship in 2002.

Patent drawings of a possible attempt of Porsche to introduce a 4-door convertible Panamera is all over the internet. The drawings show that the architecture has a permanent section of central roofing.

Porsche insiders recently commented that the plan for the 4-door convertible has been cancelled but the paper trail for patent applications in the United States point in the other direction.

The design reveals that the new car using a 4-door configuration will need some stiffening on the Panamera’s bulkhead and floorpan so that sufficient integrity and rigidity of the structure can be achieved.

It will be quite a bold move to bring a four-door convertible to the showrooms. It will be a more daring step than rolling out the usual two-door top down, but it will be giving Porsche an advantage in having unique points to sell to consumers.

Retaining the 4-door architecture gives the convertible the same space of the interiors as in the saloon. The boot will somehow be compromised by the roof. Looking at the design of the four-door Panamera, it seems that the car will be sporting a fabric roof.

Other car manufacturers have also considered producing 4-door convertibles but the additional weights to provide the required structure stiffening remain to be the stumbling blocks.

We still don’t know if this Panamera convertible will ever go into production. Check out the drawings and the renderings that we have here.

Porsche develops he platform for a hardened 2010 Porsche Panamera. Car manufacturers want to derive as much car models they can make from a platform so they can rake back the initial investment to produce the car. The figures translates to billions and such move is especially effective for low volume carmakers and for those with smaller budgets.

The current line up of Panamera is topped by the Panamera Turbo, AWD Panamera, Panamera S, and the standard variant Panamera. All run on a V8 4.8 L which can be turbocharged or naturally aspirated.

By 2010, Porsche will release to the market the V6 entry level model and the hybrid Panamera which runs on petrol-electric systems. There is also a possibility for a Cabrio two-door model.

The hybrid Panamera will team up with the current SUV prototype Cayenne in answering the market’s need for a more environment-friendly Porsche. The Panamera Cabrio is also in the works. The Cabrio will be released with a V8 and V6 variants.

Porsche is also coordinating with a Volkswagen group to come up with a diesel version. Porsche execs have commented that there are bases that they can use to develop a diesel Panamera with a V8 or V6 engine. That car may use a V8 similar to the Audi A8 which outputs 322hp and the V6 of the Cayenne which generates 240hp.

The Panamera GTS will use the Turbo platform of the Panamera sedan but will use steel springs instead of the air suspension.

Porsche Panamera amazes the autoworld with some of its innovative technologies prior to its unveiling at the Shanghai Motor Show April of 2009.

According to the Stuttgart, Germany-based manufacturer, the Panamera is built for total performance and maximum efficiency. The designers boast of Panamera as the first car with an automatic double clutch transmission that is coupled with an engine that has a Start/Stop system.

The start/stop system adds to the fuel efficiency of the Panamera as it turns off the engine when its power is not needed, like when waiting for a green light. Aside from this benefit, the technology also helps in lowering its emissions.

The engine of the Porsche Panamera is also equipped with the very efficient Direct Fuel Injection technology. All Porsche Panamera due for release in the United States in October 2009 comes with a PDK gearbox which makes it more fuel efficient.

The wheels of the Panamera are also designed to have lesser rolling resistance. The brakes are also engineered to have minimum residual brake forces.

The Panamera only uses up 10.8 L of fuel for every 100 kilometers or 26 mpg imp. That’s not AWESOME fuel efficiency, but that’s good for a Porsche.

The car on its Panamer Turbo release comes with a rear spoiler that is adjustable in a multi-stage setting. The four-way spoiler is activated depending on the driving condition and employs excellent surface geometry and precision control of the angles.

The body of the Panamera consists of different steel grades, alloys like magnesium and aluminum, and plastics. This ideal architecture gives the Panamera S only weighs around 1800 kilograms.
